As part of WAIDA’s planning to get WA Dragons to the Worlds in Melbourne, they have secured very reasonable freight rates for Roll on/Roll off rather than in a container. The shipping line can offer a return rate of approximately $2500 return from Melbourne and Port Kembla (they don’t go to Sydney).
The boats need to be on a trailer that can be towed onto and off the ship and be secured to the trailer. The boats will be stowed below deck so they are not exposed to the weather. The freight rate is calculated on volume so it is important that the boats can be secured as close as possible to each other so the masts will have to be able to go over the boat in front and behind. The boats need to be delivered to the dock at the disport and I am sure we can organise to get them towed to Freshie on arrival in Fremantle. Ships go approximately fortnightly
