ASCALON. What’s in a Name?

The new owners of Baikal showed no only do they not fear ‘bad luck’ in changing a yachts name, but they are sending challenge to all the Dragon Owners. Experienced Yngling sailors James Hawkins and Andrew Howe, who between them rack up over 30 years one design experience, and in the case of James, significant Dragon experience, have bought Baikal and have renamed it Ascalon. We are delighted that James and Andrew have chosen to ‘upgrade’ to a Dragon.

Jim commented that he expects a steep learning curve, but as a past Varuna Cup winner, we think Jim may be a new force to reckon with.

And Ascalon? Ascalon was the spear St George used to slay the Dragons!

James and Andrew. At work?
